Design Philosophy

In our increasingly connected world, we often encounter situations where off-the-shelf solutions don’t meet our needs. Whether it’s automating your home, optimizing your workspace, or creating unique interactive experiences, the need to design and build custom devices arises. Imagine making a device that can easily control the lighting in your home, customized precisely to your preferences. This process requires delving into the intricacies of circuit board design, mastering complex programming languages, and carefully crafting a protective enclosure.

This process is not only time-consuming, but also requires high expertise and technical skills, which is a huge challenge for most non-professionals. Even experienced developers can become frustrated and overwhelmed by repetitive tasks. In addition, there is often a large overlap in technical requirements and solutions, resulting in many people investing time and resources to solve similar problems, resulting in duplication of work.

For the reasons above, we conceived RIMU to help developers and manufacturers realize their creative visions efficiently. RIMU provides integrated, user-friendly solutions that save users time and effort in hardware design, software development, and manufacturing. Our mission is to empower innovators by providing a supportive, integrated platform so that they can focus on their strengths.

Hardware

Rimu is a versatile device equipped with a powerful ESP32 chip with 384 KB ROM, 512 KB SRAM, 16 KB RTCSRAM and 16 MB PSRAM, 8 GB storage space. Its 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen display offers a vivid 480 x 800 pixel resolution, supports 262K colors, and is driven by an ILI9806 or HX8369 display controller.

Structure

Dimensions Information

Rimu is equipped with a 4.3-inch LCD screen that can display rich information and images. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPIO pins, and has excellent expandability. It can be seamlessly integrated with various sensors, actuators, and other peripherals. The overall size of Rimu is 118 cm x 73 cm, which is relatively compact compared with similar products. The 4.3-inch screen is a common size and provides a good viewing experience. With a resolution of 880 x 480 pixels, the display is clear and delicate. Rimu’s screen size is 93.6 cm x 56.2 cm and the thickness is 15.9 cm, which is moderately thick and easy to carry.

Magnetic Suction Structure

Rimu uses an innovative magnetic connection method, eliminating the need for traditional screw fastening. Simply snap in to quickly connect the host and module. The gold-plated pogo pins ensure maximum lifespan, allowing anyone to easily operate the device without any hindrance.

External Antenna Structure

Our devices offer unmatched flexibility for a variety of environments. Whether you need to enclose it in a metal enclosure or place it away from a wireless access point, we have you covered. A dedicated external antenna interface ensures optimal signal reception, even in challenging conditions . With improved signal quality and extended coverage, you can enjoy a more reliable connection. When not needed, the interface doubles as a lanyard attachment point for easy carrying.

Tripod Structure

The Rimu host is equipped with two thoughtfully designed screw holes, one of which is compatible with standard tripod screw holes, so it can be firmly mounted on a tripod to improve its versatility; the other screw hole can be used to mount small accessories to expand its application scenarios. Placed on a tripod, Rimu is like having an extra pair of flexible “legs”, making it more adaptable and able to handle more complex tasks. The stable support provided by the tripod significantly improves Rimu’s working accuracy and ease of operation , making it very suitable for applications such as industrial automation, scientific research, and education and training.

DIN35 Structure

DIN35 rails are an indispensable standardized profile in industrial control, automation and electrical systems. In electrical control cabinets and switchboards, DIN35 rails provide a universal platform for installing and fixing various electrical equipment. Rimu’s DIN35 expansion capability means that Rimu can easily connect electrical equipment equipped with DIN35 rails, such as sensors, switchboards, etc.

Customers only need to replace the required modules to avoid waste caused by redundant functions. The RIMU host has successfully developed a series of powerful modules including RFID, DMX512, stepper motor, GPIO, relay, light matrix, etc. In the future, we will continue to expand the module library to give the RIMU host stronger intelligent capabilities to adapt to more complex application scenarios.
